Truck pins down pedestrian in M7 accident
A man survived after being pinned under a truck's wheel on the M7.
A PEDESTRIAN is lucky to be alive after an out-of-control truck plunged into the bushes on the side of the road, pinning him under the driver’s wheel.
Rescue Care paramedics rushed to the scene on the M7 east-bound near the Bellville Road bridge this morning just after 6am. Paramedics immediately called Durban Search and Rescue Unit and Durban Fire Department for assistance and, fortunately, a large tow truck was close by and arrived on scene. Paramedics stabilised the injured man while rescue efforts continued and the truck was then lifted off the pedestrian by the tow truck. The truck driver also sustained injuries and he, together with the pedestrian, was treated on the scene and transported to a nearby hospital.
It is unclear what caused the truck to lose control, however SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating further.
