Cliffdale Primary reaches out to victims’ centre
Hammersdale SAPS Victim's Centre receives donation from Cliffdale Primary School.
PUPILS and teachers from Cliffdale Primary School recently embarked on an initiative to collect toiletries with the aim to teach pupils about the art of giving.
HOD of Cliffdale Primary School, Mrs Mogie Pillay, said, “In the second term of our academic programme, the foundation phase teachers decided to run a collection drive for toiletries at our school with pupils from Grades R to 3. The intention of this project was to teach our pupils the art of giving. We chose the newly-opened Hammersdale SAPS Victims’ Centre as the recipient of this drive because we felt that we wanted to give something back to the community.
“The Hammarsdale SAPS services both Cliffdale and Hammarsdale; both are areas from which our pupils hail from. We engaged in this drive to create awareness among our pupils about Child Protection Week and Nelson Mandela’s birthday. A special event was held recently at our school to hand over the toiletries to representatives from the Hammarsdale SAPS Victims’ Centre.”
