Kloof SAPS gets major upgrade after minister steps in

Kloof SAPS has had a much-needed facelift after residents’ complaints were escalated to the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure.

THE Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Dean Macpherson recently visited the Kloof police station for an oversight and handing over of the rehabilitation work completed following the national department’s intervention.

Late last year, following many complaints from Kloof residents on the state of the station and requests from the community policing forum on behalf of the residents for rehabilitation measures, Ward councillor Caelee Laing requested assistance from the Minister’s office.

After a site visit and assessments from the Public Works and Infrastructure department, this request was approved and work started some weeks ago.

Part of the improvements include the replacement of the perimeter fencing, a new gate, paving of the parking lot, repairs to the generator as well as new and improved lighting surrounding the station property.

“Many residents of the local community and SAPS members have expressed great appreciation for the improvements made and as the ward councillor, I am very grateful that the requests by our residents and the incredibly hardworking Kloof CPF were heard and actioned by our National Public Works and Infrastructure department.”

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
