Police arrest wanted business robbers

The three men, aged between 30 and 47, were remanded into custody and are expected to appear in court on Monday, 24 August.

THREE men who were wanted for a spate of robberies were arrested in Cato Manor last Friday.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, said the three men appeared briefly in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 August for business robbery cases.

“The Pinetown Trio Task Team, Pinetown Crime Intelligence and Pinetown Tactical Response Unit made a breakthrough in the early hours on Friday, 14 August in an intelligence-driven operation.

”The three alleged robbers, aged between 30 and 47, were wanted for spate of robberies committed during the past year at a petrol service station at the Pavilion, Westville.

“It is alleged that the men would go to the garage at night and threaten the cashier with guns, then take undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. The men would then leave the scene on foot.”

Manqele said police are expecting to make more arrests.

The men were remanded into custody until Monday, 24 August for further investigation.
