Truck driver escapes serious injury in Cato Ridge crash
The truck driver escaped with minor injuries.
A truck driver in his thirties is fortunate to have sustained only minor injuries when his truck crashed into the back of a stationary truck on the N3 Cato Ridge south off-ramp this morning.
Shortly after 6am, paramedics arrived on scene and found the severely mangled wreck of the truck on the side of the road.
“Paramedics expected to find that the occupant of the truck sustained critical injuries, but upon assessment they found that the driver was sitting on a nearby guardrail with only a few scrapes and bruises. The driver explained to paramedics that he managed to climb out of the mangled wreckage prior to paramedics’ arrival,” explained Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesman.
The driver was treated on scene and transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for further treatment. The driver of the other truck could not be located at the scene.
Local authorities attended the incident.
