Food donation to help fill children’s tummies
Hirsch's Hillcrest donated a host of supplies and food to the Ikhethelo Children's Village.
A TEAM from the Hirsch’s Hillcrest branch recently made a donation of various cooked meals to the children at Ikhethelo Children’s Village in The Valley of 1 000 Hills.
The village was also donated a range of supplies for the children and the house mothers. The meals that were donated were also produced for Hirsch’s latest cookbook.
The Ikhethelo Children’s Village strives to create a healthy home environment within each cottage or family, which itself is part of a vibrant, safe, village community. “Each family unit consists of a housemother caring for a group of eight children, as in a natural family. The house parents are the foundation on which each family is built. They are drawn from the same cultural group as the children and are a mother to them, not just an employee – they love and care for the children as if they were their own,” said Taryn Taylor, the PRO at Hirsch’s Hillcrest.
