Msasa Books hosts closing down sale

It is the end of an era for Msasa Books as it will close its doors on 31 March.

THROUGHOUT the month of March, grab bargains at the Msasa Books closing down sale as all books are 50 percent off.

Sheila and Adrian moved to Durban back in 2000 and were looking after the Highway Hospice book section. Since then, they have moved and grown a number of times but after Adrian suffered a stroke, heart attack and renal failure, all in a single morning, Sheila has decided to close up shop. “This was his life. I liked the people and he liked the books and that was such a good combination,” said Sheila.

During his recovery, Adrian was taken to the shop in an attempt to jog his memory, but nothing in the store grabbed his attention nor did he show any recognition of the shop, except a picture of Jock of the Bushveld.

There are still hundreds of second-hand books lining the shelves of the book store in St Margaret Road in Hillcrest, from romance and fantasy to crime and historical pieces, there is something for everyone. “I would like to say a big thank you to all our customers who have supported us over the years,” said Sheila.

All books will be selling at half price and all leftover books will then be donated to the Highway Hospice. The NPO will also take up residence in the premises on 1 May.

Once the shop has closed down, Sheila said she will still be selling a few of the collector’s pieces online and looked forward to spending some quality time with her husband.
