Jaws of life used to free injured man

The man was then transported to hospital.

A TRUCK overturned on the N3 at the Hammarsdale off-ramp on Monday morning, 14 March.

Reports from the scene indicate that the truck driver took the on-ramp to the N3 when the truck veered off the roadway and rolled down a steep embankment.

Paramedics found that two people from the truck had sustained injuries.

According to Chris Botha, Netcare 911 media liaison officer, “The driver, who was in a serious condition, was still trapped in the wreckage that came to rest on its side. The passenger escaped with minor injuries.”

The Netcare rescue officer and fire-fighters used the jaws of life to free the injured man while medics had to climb into the wreckage to stabilise him.

After medics treated the injured they transported them to a nearby hospital.
