Chase to compete in international bass competition

KEARSNEY College has chosen Grade 9 pupil, Chase Kelly, as its April SPAR Star of the Month.

Chase is captain of the KZN junior bass fishing team and was recently awarded his SA Junior Proteas cap for the third time.

At the end of March and beginning of April, five provinces were represented in the national competition held at Albert Falls Dam outside Pietermaritzburg. Competitors fished for two days, after which the top 12 boys and a reserve were selected to go through to the Proteas team.

Chase placed seventh in this group. Those selected will compete in the internationals in Zimbabwe on Thursday, 8 December.

Chase is a solid academic as well as a great sportsman across the sports codes. He was also selected for the KZN Coastal U14B hockey team last year.
