Put your paws up for SPCA society

For those interested in the work done by the SPCA and have a heart for helping animals, join the SPCA's Golden Paw Society.

AT the recent Golden Paw Society meeting at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, members were given an in-depth account of the NSPCA’s recent outreach project in Pomfret, near Botswana.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA’s manager, Barbara Patrick, noted the National Council of SPCA’s outreach team worked extremely hard as they sterilised more than 300 animals and carried out other complicated surgeries for the animals of the Pomfret community. The NSPCA farm animal team treated the cart wounds of more than 100 donkeys as well as repairing the saddles used to ride them.

“Thirty tons of animal feed was delivered to the small farmers in the community for their goats and cattle, and 7 775 litres of much-needed water was delivered too,” said Barbara.

“The aim of the Golden Paw Society is to welcome our supporters in as part of the SPCA family and keep them informed about the work undertaken by the Kloof and Highway SPCA in terms of inspectorate activities, animal healthcare, care of animals in our shelter, outreach clinics and education to promote the humane treatment of all animals,” said Barbara.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA Golden Paw Society hosts a tea on the last Thursday of each month. If you would like to become a member, contact Tersia Taskes on 031 764 1212/3 or e-mail marketing@kloofspca.co.za.
