15 people injured in M7 collision

Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of life to rescue a man who was entrapped in the car.

FIFTEEN people were injured when a truck, taxi and a car collided on the M7 West bound after the Hans Dettman off ramp, in Pinetown this morning.

Operations director at Rescue Care, Garrith Jamieson said three vehicles collided in a head on format. “More ambulances were requested as well as Advanced Life Support paramedics.

One person was entrapped in the car and the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to rescue the man. Fifteen people sustained minor to severe injuries and were all stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals.

Jamieson said the exact cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.
