LGE 2026: This is the MKP’s Ward 21 councillor candidate

MKP’s Ndumiso Ndlela has outlined his key priorities if elected councillor, focusing on improved roads and basic services.

WITH the 2026 Local Government Elections just around the corner, councillors will be elected for all district, metropolitan and local municipalities across the country’s nine provinces. The Highway Mail asked councillor candidates for Ward 21 why voters should vote for them in the upcoming Local Government Elections and what experience they bring which will help them perform at their best as councillors should they be elected.

THE MKP’s Ndumiso Ndlela said if elected councillor, his key priorities will include:

  • Improving roads, streetlights, water and sanitation, stormwater drainage, and refuse collection to ensure residents live in a clean, safe, and dignified environment.
  • Advocating for learnerships, internships, skills development, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities to help young people become economically independent.
  • Working with SAPS, Community Policing Forums, and other stakeholders to combat crime and improve safety across the ward.
  • Promoting access to support services for the elderly, people living with disabilities, unemployed residents, and struggling families.
  • Holding regular community meetings, listening to residents across all voting districts, following up on complaints, and providing honest feedback.

“My vision is to build a Ward 21 where residents are heard, services improve, young people have opportunities, and leaders are accountable. I understand that a councillor cannot solve every problem alone, but must consistently engage the relevant authorities, follow up on community concerns, and report back to residents,” said Ndlela, whose experience, he added, includes being involved in the establishment of Berkshire Downs Neighbourhood and stakeholder engagement.
