Police officer shoots three people, commits suicide
The man allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend, her son and a third person. He fled the scene and turned the gun on himself after trying to escape from police.
A MAN believed to be a SAPS member in KZN shot three people in Johannesburg yesterday and fled the scene.
According to a report on social media (Police pics and clips), the man was involved in a bad breakup with his girlfriend who he believed cheated on him.
After the split, she moved to Johannesburg to live with her family. It is alleged the man visited his ex girlfriend’s family home in Johannesburg last week. They got into an argument and he allegedly shot his ex girlfriend dead. A relative was also allegedly shot dead when he came outside to see what was happening. As the man was leaving, he also shot the ex girlfriend’s son who heard the commotion and came outside. The son remains in a critical condition.
The man then fled the scene and is believed to have made his journey back to Durban on Friday, 4 November. Members of the Tactical Response Team and Shongweni K9 Unit waited for the man who was driving his red Chevrolet Cruz on the N3.
After spotting the vehicle, members of TRT and dog unit gave chase, the man proceeded to go right through the Mariannhill toll plaza without stopping.
