Police on right frequency after radio donation

ADT Security donated two-way radios to the Pinetown SAPS.

COMMUNICATION at the Pinetown South African Police Service (SAPS) has been bolstered with the donation of two-way radios from ADT Security.

The company sponsored the radios to assist the local police to communicate with the Community Control Room (CCR) initiated by ADT last year.

The CCR is operated from the ADT offices in Pinetown and serves as a vital communication link between neighbourhood watches and now the SAPS.

Rian Buys, ADT Security’s district community development manager, said they were delighted to have the SAPS on board.

“These radios will enable us to communicate with the local SAPS to create critical awareness of crime related information, including reporting crimes, suspicious individuals and potential emergencies.”

Since implementation, the CCR has made a significant impact in the fight against crime due to the collective effort from all role players.

“We encourage more residents and neighbourhood watch groups to get involved in the CCR and be a part of making a difference in the community. For the latest CCR information, please ‘like’ the CCR Facebook page.”
