17 injured in Shongweni taxi rollover
The injured were treated at the scene and then taken to hospital.
SEVENTEEN people were injured when the taxi they were travelling in lost control and rolled on the D210 Road in Shongweni earlier this morning.
Garrith Jamieson, operations director at Rescue Care, said paramedics responded to the incident around 6.20am.
“On their arrival they found that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and rolled over, coming to rest on its side. A total of 17 people suffered minor to moderate injuries. More ambulances were called to assist and once all the injured had been stabilised, they were taken to various Durban hospitals,” said Jamieson.
The exact cause of the collision is unknown at this stage, however SAPS will be investigating.
