Vehicle bursts into flames in Kloof crash
The driver fled the scene just before the vehicle burst into flames.
THE driver of a bakkie crashed into the rear of a truck, which was transporting a tractor, on the M13, opposite Spar in Kloof earlier today. The crash caused the bakkie to burst into flames.
Chris Botha, media liaison officer at Netcare 911 said rescue officers responded to the collision around 8.52am.
“The rescue officer arrived at the scene and found that the passenger from the bakkie suffered moderate injuries while the driver left the scene. The vehicle started burning on impact,” said Botha.
Residents used fire extinguishers to douse the flames while they were waiting for the fire department to arrive. The passenger was treated and then transported to a hospital in Chatsworth.
Botha said exact details about the cause of the crash is still speculative and will be investigated by police.
