Thobeka’s toy dream has come true
Armed with "magical” money, Mkhize made her selection of dream toys, which included dolls, a pram and play kitchen utensils.
A young girl facing a life-threatening condition was gifted with some much-needed joy when her toy dream materialised and she was treated to a day of shopping by Toys R Us at Watercrest Mall.
South Africa’s toy retailer and children’s organisation Reach for a Dream joined forces to realise Thobeka Mkhize’s ultimate wish of playing with her most desired toys.
Mkhize was given an exclusive shopping experience sponsored by the retailer to play in-store and fill her trolley with her favourite toys.

“Toys R Us is delighted that our participation made it possible for Thobeka’s dream to materialise and brought her such great joy,” says Nicole Annells, marketing manager, Toys R Us South Africa.

“It is extremely rewarding to be able to create magical moments for children, especially kids like Thobeka, who face difficult circumstances,” added Annells.
Reach for a Dream, which has for decades assisted children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses to realise their greatest dreams, acknowledged the significant impact made by Toys R Us’ generous participation.
“Thank you to Toys R Us for assisting us with this dream and for helping us to ensure that children never stop believing in the power of dreams,” said Kerry Donkin, Reach for a Dream Foundation, KZN Branch Manager.
“Thobeka enjoyed her shopping experience and was blown away by all the toys her magical money could get her. She left the store with a big smile on her face and bags full of toys,” she added.
