Help Hillary siblings rebuild their lives

The family is in need of food, toiletries and clothing.

FOLLOWING the double tragedy which left four children orphaned in Hillary yesterday, two dropped off points have been set up for people who wish to assist the family.

Four siblings; girls 13 and 10 and boys aged six and four were left orphaned and without a home on the same day.

The mother, Thulile Sikhosana died in a fire which was caused by a candle just hours after she returned from hospital where her husband had passed away earlier in the day.

The two drop off points are in 7 Theobald Road and 26 Bedale Road in Hillary.

One of the residents, Christopher Moodley who is also a neighbourhood watch member said this is a very sad and traumatising for the children.

“I spoke to the grandfather yesterday who said the children who are currently in his house in Umlazi keeps asking for their parents and want to go back home,” said Moodley.

Most people have been very helpful and have donated clothes and groceries.

“We thank people for their generosity and the family mostly needs clothes, food, toiletries and other people have donated cash,” he said.

People who wish to help can contact Christopher on 073 943 6031.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
