Earlier today the president announced six changes to his national executive.

Here is a list of the changes:

  1. Blade Nzimande has been replaced by Hlengiwe Mkhize as the new Minister of Higher Education and Training
  2. Ayanda Dlodlo has been moved and re-appointed as the Minister of Home Affairs
  3. Mmamaloko Kubayi is the Minister of Communications
  4. David Mahlobo (the former State Security Minister) is the new Minister of Energy
  5. Bongani Thomas Bongo, a new entry into the cabinet, is the Minister of State Security
  6. Buti Manamela is the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training

This follows the controversial reshuffle in March, where Zuma axed five ministers, including then finance minister Pravin Gordhan.
