Cub pack pays tribute to leaders

If you would like to join the 1st Wandsbeck Cub Pack scout group, join in on one of its weekly meetings in Westville.

THE Westville-based 1st Wandsbeck Cub Pack scout group bid a fond farewell to two of its leaders, Jean Stanley and Anita Nelson-Esch, recently.

Jenny Stanley served the club for 35 years and Anita Nelson-Esch offered 25 years of service to the scout movement.

According to the women, it was most rewarding to have been part of teaching the importance of values, responsibility and skills to the youth.

“Not only right from wrong, but specific values such as fairness, courage, honour and respect for others,” said Jenny.

Together they have a multitude of wonderful memories from their scouting careers and will miss all of the adventures, camping, hiking and new experiences they have enjoyed throughout the years.

“Although we will miss it all, my husband and I are now ready to enjoy another completely new adventure in the Cape,” said Jenny.

They will do this before they decide on a home base near their daughter in Cape Town.

Meanwhile, Anita will enjoy her retirement taking care of her grand daughter and finding new hiking paths in the Cape.

They thanked the parents, past and present, for allowing their sons to attend the pack meetings.
