The theme highlighted the unity of cultures and friendship in fashion, song and dance.

Delivering her speech, she said, “As women, we are often taught to put everyone else first, to sacrifice, to please others and to carry the needs of those around us. But there comes a time when you have to choose yourself. Put yourself first. Know your worth. It is perfectly okay to say no. You do not have to give in to peer pressure or follow every trend just because everyone else is doing it.
“You are an individual. Think for yourself. Never do something simply to impress your friends or to feel accepted. Know what is right for you and have the courage to stand by your decisions,” she said.
The guest speaker also advised learners and educators to feed their own soul first so that you can be strong enough to serve and uplift others.
“Your dreams matter too. Do not keep sacrificing your ambitions just because you are a woman. Go after your dreams. Believe in yourself. Surround yourself with people who inspire, encourage and challenge you to become better. And if your friends do not support your growth or inspire you to dream bigger, it may be time to choose new friends.”

She reminded women and young girls that choosing yourself is not selfish.
“It is an act of self-respect. When you know who you are, value yourself and pursue your dreams, you give other women permission to do the same.”
Event organiser Terry Poolingam thanked everyone who were involved in making the event a tremendous success.
