Three arrested for possession of copper cables

Police recovered 41 metres of copper cables loaded in a van in Molweni.

POLICE vigilance in the Hillcrest area has resulted in the arrest of three suspects aged between 26 and 33 and the recovery of 41 metres of copper cables.

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Mazwi Mbatha, police were working in the Molweni area, performing their crime prevention duties when they noticed a white van carrying a load hidden under a black cover.

“They stopped the vehicle, which had three occupants, and asked them what was in the back of the van. The occupants could not give a proper answer.

“When inspecting the load they found 41 metres of copper cables,” said Mbatha.

The three suspects were charged with possession of suspected stolen property.
