Relative arrested for raping 3-year-old girl

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

A 29-YEAR-OLD old man from KwaDabeka was arrested on Sunday, 8 April for raping a three-year-old girl.

It is alleged the girl was was sleeping with her family in their home when the 29 year old suspect came in pretending to be drunk at about 3am.

“He walked in the room and switched off the lights. The family ignored him and continued to sleep. After a while the victim’s aunt who was also sleeping in the same room as the victim was awaken by the cries of the toddler who was complaining about pains,” said Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele.

“The aunt switched on the lights and found the suspect lying naked next to the baby who was half naked. She also noticed blood stains on the toddler’s private part,” said Manqele.

A case of rape was reported at KwaDabeka SAPS and the suspect was arrested. He is expected to appear in court soon.
