Its heart still belongs to Africa
Dozens of Land Rover owners joined in on the celebrations at Stonehaven Castle in Shongweni at the weekend.
TO celebrate Land Rover’s 70th birthday, owners of the powerful four-wheel-drive vehicles gathered at Stonehaven Castle in Shongweni.
There was a gigantic cake, a fun Q and A, prize-giving and a commemorative 70th anniversary photoshoot.
Land Rover ambassadors Kingsley and Ross Holgate addressed the gathering and on Monday, 30 April set off on a symbolic, humanitarian-focussed 70th Anniversary mini-expedition.

“I firmly believe that the heart of Land Rover belongs here in Africa,” said Kingsley Holgate.
“Since 1948, they’ve played a key role in global exploration and especially here in Africa, Land Rovers have helped to transform the continent – from pioneering transport routes through previously inaccessible regions, to playing a leading role in economic development and responding to humanitarian needs. My first vehicle was a little yellow Series I still have today; they are the soul of our geographic and humanitarian expeditions, many of them world-firsts.”
