THE launch of a brand new ringball club set to bring the popular team sport back to the Pinetown area. Previously known as korfball, ringball is a fast-paced and inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages.

Combining elements of netball and basketball, the game places a strong emphasis on teamwork, fitness and social interaction.

The club officially launched on September 1. Training sessions will take place every Tuesday from 18:00 to 20:00.

One of the organisers, Charmaine van Wyk, said the new club is open to everyone, from beginners to experienced players, offering an opportunity for people of all skill levels to learn the sport, improve their fitness and become part of a growing sporting community.

“Ringball already has a strong following in KwaZulu-Natal, with established clubs in areas including eThekwini, Amanzimtoti and Richards Bay.

“The province has also enjoyed recent success at the national championships. The KwaZulu-Natal Masters Men’s Team secured a silver medal, while the Senior Ladies A Team claimed gold,” said van Wyk.

Several KZN players have also been awarded SA colours and are set to represent the country in upcoming exhibition matches.

Anyone interested in joining the club is encouraged to attend the Tuesday practice sessions at Gelofte School.
