Matrics inspired to dream big

With the day's theme, 'It starts with me', learners were motivated to reach for their goals and be the best that they can be.

WYEBANK Secondary School matriculants were inspired to study hard and pass matric with excellent results at a recent motivational talk by Phakamile Masikane.

The talk was presented during the school’s motivational day which was themed It Starts With Me’

Masikane told learners that they should put a lot of effort into their work and be able to manage their time as time is crucial.

“You need to ask yourself where do you want to see yourself after matric, if you are procastinating you are only wasting your time, not anyone else’s.

“As young people you need to dream big, life is beautiful out there and is waiting for you to explore it,” said Masikane.

She advised learners to create study groups if they are struggling to study on their own as that is the method that most students use in higher institutions.

“As a person, you should have passion for everything you do and as learners doing your assignments on time, coming to school on time and respecting your teachers will take you very far in life and those qualities will have a positive outcome on your future.

“Matric is a powerful tool and you cannot get anywhere without it,” said Masikane.

Wyebank Secondary principal, Dr Saths Govender, also advised learners to go out into the world and be the best that they can be.

He thanked the teachers who organised the day and the guest speaker for her wise words.

“I am hoping that this year’s results will increase drastically as we are doing everything in our power to uplift our learners,” he said.
