Man arrested with unlicensed gun

In a separate incident, police are seeking for relatives after a body of an unknown man was found near a river in Wyebank.

POLICE in KwaDabeka arrested a 23-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Saturday, 7 July. According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele police were monitoring a funeral in the area and patrolling in the vicinity when they spotted a suspicious vehicle.

“The car was being driven at a very high speed and the police gave chase, eventually it stopped. Upon searching the driver, he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with a filed off serial number and an empty magazine,” said Manqele.

The Cluster Commander of eThekwini Inner and Outer West Cluster, Major General James Sayer has commended the police for their vigilance.

Police seek relatives

Pinetown police are looking for the relatives of a man believed to be in his 30s whose body was found next to the river at KwaBhontshisi area in Wyebank, on Tuesday, 3 July. He was wearing a black jacket and a black t-shirt with grey shorts. A case of murder is being investigated by Pinetown SAPS. Anyone with information on his next of kin is urged to contact W/O HJ Smith on 073 867 4967 or 031 325 5054 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
