Everything Kiaran touches turns to gold

Kiaran Chetty is Star College SPAR Star of the Month.

STAR College has selected Kiaran Chetty as the SPAR Star of the Month. Kiaran, a Grade 10 learner at Star College, has always excelled in his science projects.

In 2017 he won gold at the Eskom Science Expo. In 2018, he competed at the Golden Climate International Science Expo in Kenya, winning a gold medal.

But Kiaran is equally talented culturally and musically.

From a young boy, when Kiaran was not at school or on the sportsfield, he played tubla, iradungam, harmonium and recently the keyboard.

His love for music began at the tender age of seven and he enjoys singing and cut his first CD in telugu at the age of 10.

Kiaran has been participating in the Telugu Eisteddfod since 2009 and Tamil Eisteddfod since 2011. Kiaran has excelled at playing the miradungam.

This is a traditional South Indian Drum. He won his first South African National Title at the age of 13 and last year won gold.

His determination recently saw him win gold firsts in KwaZulu-Natal and National competitions which makes him the reigning SA Champ.

Star College is very proud of this young man. “Kiaran’s perseverance is highlighted in his character. Well done,” said Sara Hayden, PA to the principal.
