THE talented learners at Kloof High School reigned supreme in the first Cultural Derby Day against Hillcrest High School.
The school’s marketing manager, Janet Brodey, said the learners competed in five categories, choir, acting, poetry, dance and a surprise act. Each category was scored by three judges, this included one representative from each school as well as an independent judge.

Kloof High won the choir, dance and surprise act categories.
“We are proud to say that not only did we win three of the five categories, but we were also the overall winners of the entire event,” said Janet.
“We would like to thank all those involved in the auditioning process as well as a special thanks to Kayleigh Nicholls (deputy head girl) who supervised and assisted on the night of the competition,” she said.
Both schools hope to make this an annual event that will coincide with their sporting Derby Day.
