New Germany's Mfundo Mthimkhulu managed to work his charm and claim the Mr uShaka second runner-up title at the 14th Mr, Miss and Miss Junior uShaka Marine World and Mr and Miss uShaka Kids World event held on Saturday, 13 October.

WITH only one pageant under his belt, New Germany’s Mfundo Mthimkhulu managed to work his charm and claim the Mr uShaka second runner-up title at the 14th Mr, Miss and Miss Junior uShaka Marine World and Mr and Miss uShaka Kids World event held on Saturday, 13 October.

The former Pinetown Boys’ High School learner is now a civil engineering student who has an entrepreneurial edge as well as a love for gym.

“Gym is what I do on a daily basis, I have a great passion for motivating other people to train and live better,” he said.

The self-acclaimed ‘granny’s boy’ loves spending time with family, he has five siblings and lives with his grandmother and cousins in their New Germany home.

When asked what his future plans are, he said he aims to do more pageants as he only did his first two this year with no hopes of winning.

“People have been pushing me to get into modelling and I have been putting it off. I’m so grateful for the support because without my friends and family I wouldn’t have won Mr Berea Tech and be a runner-up at uShaka’s biggest pageant,” he said.

The crowds of supporters enjoyed a fun and entertaining evening while the judges deliberated on their decision on who would walk away with prizes valued at more than R70 000.

The winners not only won prizes and cash but will also be included in the uShaka Marine World’s advertising campaigns throughout the year as well as be uShaka Marine World’s brand ambassadors where they will attend many high profile events in the upcoming year.
