First responders found the teenager, in a critical condition, at the bottom of a 35-metre cliff on Galloway Road.

DESPITE the brave attempts of Durban SAPS Search and Rescue, Metro Police Search and Rescue and other organisations, a teenage girl who fell into a ravine in Hillcrest last night (28 October) had died.

After hours of gruelling team work the rescuers managed to pull the girl up the cliff on Galloway Road in Winston Park, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition, said Netcare 911 liaison officer, Shawn Herbst.

However, this morning he confirmed that she had sadly died around midnight.

Members of the Durban SAPS Search and Rescue, Metro Police Search and Rescue and other organisations worked together is difficult, low light conditions to rescue the teenager.
