New Germany Sports Club hosts 50th birthday bash

Spend Saturday, 10 November celebrating with the New Germany Sports Club's members.

PREPARE to party with the New Germany Sports Club’s members on Saturday, 10 November as they celebrate its 50th anniversary in a big way.

The event starts at 9am until late.

Pierre Theron will host a live music session until 1pm, followed by Ian Punton until 8pm after which patrons will have the chance to grab the mic as karaoke will begin.

During the day there is a craft market filled with handcrafts and homemade goodies. There are still a few spots available for stalls and the space is free.

If you are want to cook up a storm, there is the potjie kos competition starting at noon. Entry is free.

To compete, bring along your own potjie pot and ingredients. You can enter on your own or as a team and the winner will take home R500. To snap up a space, send a WhatsApp to Jolanda on 082 093 0607.

For the children there is a treasure hunt, colouring-in competition and a jumping castle. The kitchen at the club will be open and meals will be sold throughout the day.

There are pool, snooker and dart events and R500 prize money in each competition. On the bowls side, lace up and compete in social bowls. Entry is free.

The three squash courts will be open. You can also visit the upstairs bar for craft beer and gin tasting as well as wine pairings.

Shaun O’Brien, the club’s chairman, said, “The club is open to everyone and you don’t need to be a sportsperson to be a member. There are so many prizes so come through, try out some of the events on the day and have great fun.”
