Caring Rovers paint the playground at Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre

The Rovers gave of their time and energy to refurbish the jungle gym, making it look good as new.

ROVERS from various Rover Crews in KZN revamped the jungle gym at Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre on Sunday, 28 October.

Rovers is the extension of the Scouting movement for young people aged between 18 and 30 years. According to the home’s child care manager, Adrienne van der Watt, the staff and children of Ethelbert were delighted.

“The jungle gym by one of our cottages was in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint to help revitalize the play area,” said van der Watt.

“The Rovers gave of their time and energy to refurbish the jungle gym, making it look good as new. The children were very excited and could hardly wait for the fresh paint to dry so they could again have hours of fun on it.

She said the Rover crews who took part in the community service were from: 1st Malvern Rover Crew, 58th Durban Air Rover Crew, Highway Rover Crew, and Squarelaw Rover Crew.

“Ethelbert has many ongoing maintenance projects that help keep the children’s environment a happy and safe place to be. Community support and involvement is vital towards completing each of these projects,” said Van der Watt.

“It truly does take a village to raise a child and Ethelbert acknowledges all its supporters, sponsors, service providers, and donors. Their ongoing involvement ensures that each child is given the care they not only need, but also deserve.”

If anyone would like to assist with any of Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre’s maintenance projects, contact the administration office by phone on 031 464 6555.
