Margaret makes a difference

Margaret was the guest speaker at Hirsch's Hillcrest's women's networking morning, the last one this year.

MARGARET Hirsch, chief operations executive of Hirsch’s, just hates seeing unemployed people lying around at home, doing nothing.

So, in her inimitable, no-nonsense way, she gives ideas to get them up and into the market place where they learn to ply their talents and learnt skills and earn money.

Margaret was the guest speaker at Hirsch’s Hillcrest’s women’s networking morning, the last one this year.

The networking mornings are the perfect place for women in business to meet, share ideas and gain insight into the work of others in the area.

Margaret and husband, Allan’s 40-year work success can only be admired. This self-made couple are proof that hard work, keeping up with a changing, fast-paced world and giving back, is a formula for success.

With only two to four hours sleep a night, and a schedule to well trump Donald’s, Margaret Hirsch’s energy, zest for life and joie de vivre is remarkable.

She said she has too much to do to waste time sleeping. She has managed to fit in studying and writing exams for her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) – in-between her busy schedule which includes visits to countries around Africa. This just proves that grabbing life with both hands, with gratitude, certainly has its plusses.

She peppered her talk with hilarious anecdotes and her audience was spellbound and amazed, as a large part of her life now includes empowering people, especially females.

She has won many business awards and can certainly be viewed as an icon in her own right.

However, she remains down-to-earth, making time for her family and ensuring no-one in her midst is lying around doing nothing. In Margaret’s eyes, there is a whole world to explore and conquer, greater heights to reach and so many people to inspire.
