Three men appear in Pinetown court for rape

The woman was hitchhiking when she was picked up by a man driving a bakkie on the freeway.

THREE men appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, (Monday, 14 January) for raping a 24-year-old woman.

KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele said it is alleged the woman was hitchhiking on the N2 freeway on Wednesday, 9 January when a bakkie stopped next to her and offered her a lift.

“The driver allegedly promised to take her to her destination. Instead he drove to his place of residence in Malvern. He then phoned his two friends and they arrived. They allegedly raped the victim repeatedly and she was later dropped off at a service station in Chatsworth.
