Lynne’s compassion will forever be cherished

Lynee Ellen Pieterse (nee Dalais ) of Baby Hope House passed away suddenly on Monday, 21 January 2019.

LYNNE Ellen Pieterse (nee Dalais) was born on 6 December 1950, and passed away suddenly on Monday, 21 January 2019.

Lynne is survived by her daughter, Kim Koekemoer, five grandchildren and her twin sister, Norma McCrystal.

She was always keen on sports and met her husband, Piet (Paul), at a badminton club. They were married on 24 September 1970. The couple grew their family when they welcomed their daughter, Kim Koekemoer, and son, Leon, who sadly passed away in 2014.

Lynne was widowed on 18 October 1992. Her working life started at Barclays Bank, where she worked for a few years before she moved into various clerical and admin positions. She ended her working career at NPA – Roads Department in Pinetown.

Lynne continued her sports after her children were born and attained her Natal Midlands colours for badminton and later on received her district colours for lawn bowls.

It was during her bowling years that she met me and we soon became firm friends.
This friendship grew over the next few years, which eventually led to us sharing a home and birthing Hope House, a vision we both shared.

It was her compassion for these abandoned babies that inspired her to help them, which filled her heart and soul with love and joy.

Lynne Pieterse was a registered foster parent.
Hope House is a place of safety for vulnerable children. It seeks to recognise and, within reason, provide for each child’s specific needs.

We affirm that children are to be loved and celebrated and placed with forever families. Hope House is a place of rekindled hope for all the children, parents and volunteers.
Lynne cooked all of the daily meals for Hope House, looked after the babies and did the administration work.

She lived her life to the full and dedicated it to loving and caring for those around her. This is extremely evident in the work she did with Hope House, where we cared for many unwanted and abandoned babies for more than 10 years.

To date, there have been numerous adoptions through Hope House, and these children now live with their forever families. The lives of these children have been changed forever because of the love and dedication she gave.

In the little spare time she had, Lynne loved to garden, read, help others, especially her grandchildren. Even on her last day on Earth, her final moments were spent giving time to the Lord, reading her Bible.
Lynne was one amazing lady, loved and cherished by so many all around the world. She will be deeply missed. – Sonia Swinton
