EMILY Macqueen, a Grade 5 learner, is Westville Senior Primary’s SPAR Star of the Month.
Emily is a highly motivated and determined young woman who applies herself academically, on the sports field and in the swimming pool. Her teachers described her as a delight to teach.
At the school’s recent swimming gala, Emily won all of her races and broke the U11 record for butterfly. She went on to participate in the PADSSA swimming trials, the results of which have not yet been released.
Emily also participated in field events for athletics at KZN level earlier this year and was awarded a gold medal in the U11 high jump. Other sports that Emily enjoys playing and participating in include squash and netball.
It is no surprise that Emily’s favourite school lesson is PE. She also enjoys natural science as she likes learning about animals and performing scientific experiments.
When she grows up, Emily would like to be a professional sportswoman.
