Dynamic Dayna is a champ

Thomas More College's SPAR Star of the Month - March 2019.

DAYNA Deeble, a Grade 7 learner at Thomas More College, is its SPAR Star of the Month.

She has energy and stamina like no other and her array of accolades are impressive.

Dayna works hard to balance her school life with all of her sporting and cultural commitments.

Dayna started as a Nipplet at the Durban Surf Lifesaving Club at seven years old and has done exceptionally well in this demanding sport.

She was named the Competitor of the Championships at the KZN Championship for U9, U11, U12 and U13, was the flags champion at the SA Championships for U9 and U11, took fifth place in the flags U12 and third place in beach sprints 2015 and 2017 and claimed fourth place in the beach sprints and long run last year.

Out of the sea and into the swimming pool, Dayna has been part of the school swimming team since she was in the U9 group and has been the age group champion for U9, U10, U11 and U12.

When Dayna is not swimming, she takes part in Cecchetti Classical Ballet. Her first exam was in 2013 being the primary exam for which she achieved a distinction. Followed by Test 1, Grade 1, 2, 3 and 4 achieving distinctions in all her exams (90 per cent and higher). Dayna has also been selected to represent the KZN Gymnastics Union at Level 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Dayna was awarded Runner of the Year for 2016, 2017 and 2018. She had a very successful season in 2018 as she won all of the inter school races and district trials. She was also selected for the PADSA team 2016, 2017 and 2018.

With all these amazing achievements, Dayna still manages to find the time to play 1st team hockey, water polo and Marimba’s at Thomas More College.
