Knife-wielding suspect arrested for Wyebank house robbery

The 20-year-old suspect is one of the four men who broke into a house in Wyebank, terrorising a 76-year-old man and his family.

PINETOWN detectives arrested one of the suspects who was sought for a house robbery case in Wyebank.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqe said it is alleged that on 27 June, a 76-year-old victim and his family were at their home in Dahlia Road in Wyebank when four suspects armed with knives broke down the main door.

“The elderly man and his family were threatened with knives. The family was robbed of two television sets and two decoders were stolen. Cash of about R800 was also stolen,” explained Manqele.

A case of house robbery was opened at Pinetown police station and the suspect was arrested in the Wyebank area where he was hiding. The 20-year-old suspect has been charged for house robbery.
