Man airlifted after being shot in Hammarsdale

The man sustained gunshot wounds to the face as well as the chest.

A MAN, believed to be 47-years-old, was airlifted to hospital following a shooting incident in Hammarsdale Thursday afternoon.

ER24 paramedics were making their way to the scene when they were told that the man was being transported to a local clinic.

“When paramedics arrived at the clinic shortly before 5pm, they were led to where the man was being treated. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he sustained gunshot wounds to the face as well as the chest,” said ER24 spokesperson, Ineke van Huyssteen.

Paramedics helped to stabilise the man who was critically injured before he was airlifted to hospital. The reason for the shooting is unknown at this stage.
