Hard-working learners rewarded at Hillcrest High School

HILLCREST’ High School’s speech night and prize-giving Ceremony was held recently.

Open water swimmer, Sarah Ferguson, was the guest speaker. ented included: Best Senior All-Round Sportsman to Zitha Mlonyeni and Best Senior All-Round Sportswoman to Ayla Nuttall.

James Gibson took the award for excellence for his achievements in fencing.

Naledi Ncube won the award for the Greatest Contribution to Cultural Affairs and Jonathan Wright won the awards for Best Actor/Actress, for Achievement in Practical Drama and the Best Ambassador trophy.

Mholi Nkabinde won the award for the Spirit of Togetherness and Hanru Jansen van Rensburg was placed third in Grade 12.

Jyothishna Jugdaw won awards for Public Speaking, Good Service to the School, Economics, English and Grade 12 Literature as well as Proxime Accesit Dux.

Grade 12 learner, Ross Blackbeard, walked away with The Walsh Trophy for the Pursuit of Excellence, the Cobb/Muller Shield for the Best all Rounder, the Accounting subject prize and the PricewaterhouseCoopers Trophy for Excellence in Accounting.

Ross received the Mathematics prize and the Sparks Trophy for Advanced Programme Mathematics, award for Physical Science, the trophy for Excellence in Mathematics and Science, the Hammond Trophy and was named the 2019 Dux.
