‘Foamidable’ fun for children
The firefighters from across the western region pooled donations to ensure the outreach event is an annual affair.
THIRTY-ONE children from a children’s home in Shongweni were recently treated to a morning filled with fun, games and gifts at the Pinetown Fire Station.
Each child received a present, sweets and was served a hearty meal after a morning of festivities.
The children were in their element climbing the giant inflatables, sliding down the water-slides dancing in the disco dome and a firm favourite, playing in the foam pit.

To ensure the event went off without a hitch, each firefighter from the western region made a donation.
Dallas Danielson, station commander of eThekwini Metro Fire, thanked the firefighters and the sponsors, Grand Canyon Spur (Sandy Centre), Rob Roy Lifestyle Retirement Village, ChemServe, Rainbow Inflatables and Bluff Meat Supply.
“You can’t help but get emotional when you see the children’s faces when they arrive. Many of them have never received a gift before. Our main goal here is to make a difference in these children’s lives,” said the divisional commander, Dennis Govender.
