The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was rushed to hospital on Monday afternoon in a critical condition.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care confirmed on Friday that the woman is still in hospital and is currently in a stable condition.

KZN spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele said Pinetown SAPS are investigating a case of attempted murder.

According to Mbele, the 30-year-old woman was found by a motorist lying in the middle of the M7, towards Pinetown, with multiple gunshot wounds on her chest, arm and abdomen.

“She was taken to hospital and according to a motorist on the scene the female victim was allegedly shot inside an unknown vehicle and dumped in the middle of the road. The suspect then fled the scene,” said Mbele.

Police are still searching for the suspect. Anyone who has information on the shooting is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
