Wanted gate battery thief arrested in Kloof
The man was seen attempting to steal a gate battery along Abelia Road by a Blue Security tactical ambassador.
AFTER a recent spate of gate battery thefts in the Highway area, Blue Security’s Tactical Team made a breakthrough arrest on Tuesday.
The arrest was made at about 3.30pm on Tuesday during a crime prevention patrol in the Kloof area.
“Units were looking for a battery thief who had been hitting the area hard. While driving along Abelia Road, a tactical officer observed a man trying to remove a gate battery from a home in the neighbourhood,” said a Blue Security Highway tactical ambassador, who did not wish to be named for fear of retribution.
When the suspect saw the Blue Security unit, he quickly walked away from the premises but was stopped for questioning.

“The suspect admitted that he was guilty for the removal of a number of gate batteries in Kloof, Everton and Gillitts,” he said.
The man was arrested and detained at Pinetown SAPS while the investigation is carried out.
Blue Security also handed over vital CCTV video and photographic evidence to SAPS to help link the suspect to multiple instances of gate battery theft in the area.
