Wyebank man assaulted with spades and stones, dies in hospital

The suspects were arrested at a traditional healer's house.

SIX men were arrested in the Wyebank area for the murder of a 46-year-old man.

The victim was allegedly assaulted with spades and stones after one of the suspects accused him of having an affair with his girlfriend.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said the incident happened yesterday afternoon, (Monday, 31 August).

“The victim sustained severe injuries to his head and body and was transported to hospital where he died,” said Manqele.

Police responded to the complaint and received information on the whereabouts of the suspects.

“Five suspects were found at a local traditional healer’s house where they allegedly went for a cleansing. The sixth suspect was later arrested in the area,” said Manqele.

The suspects will be charged for murder and are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.
