THIRTY-four illegal immigrants, aged between 18 and 40, were arrested by police in Pinetown yesterday, (Tuesday, 15 September).

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said it is alleged two off-duty police officers from the National Intervention Unit spotted a suspicious truck in the Nazareth area and when they stopped it, they could hear voices at the back of the truck.
“When the truck was opened, 19 illegal immigrants were found in the truck. A second truck was also spotted with other illegal immigrants,” said Manqele.
Police officers from Pinetown and Metro arrived at the scene and the immigrants were taken to Pinetown police station for processing.
