AN Upper Highway rescue organisation is appealing for food and donations towards a vet bill after a kitten, covered in paint, was rescued in Mount Vernon, Queensburgh yesterday, (Monday, 14 December).
The eight-week-old kitten was rescued by Queensburgh resident, Charmaine Viljoen and taken to Nicky Little Claw Rescue.
Founder of the rescue organisation, Nicky Kumm said a vet has examined the kitten and advised her to use golden product shampoo.

“The vet told me that she looks healthy. The vet vaccinated, dewormed and deflead her.”
Kumm mentioned that people normally paint the kittens if they want to use them for dog fighting as bait, adding that she hopes there will be no damage to the kitten in the long run as paint can be very toxic.
The organisation has many other rescued kittens in need of a forever home.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
