Reddy steady go: Malvern children’s home say study guides add up to success
The learners seem keen to use the donated study guides which Educator, Keith Reddy penned to help them to improve their studies and make learning fun.
LEARNERS at Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre (MYCC) who struggled with schoolwork in 2020 are hoping this academic year will be better with the help of study guides and regular tutoring sessions from Keith Reddy, an educator who lives in Malvern.
Reddy, who works as an educator at a school in Phoenix, said he compiled the two study guides for Grades 7, 8 and 9 mathematics, and for all grades of Afrikaans second language, to help learners overcome some of their fears about these subjects.
“When you enjoy mathematics or any other subject, you begin to see the results improve exponentially. This opens up many opportunities for learners in the field of science,” he said.

Reddy decided to donate his books to Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre (MYCC) where most of the children who live in the home have not been able to return to school since so many of them have chronic illnesses or weakened immune systems which makes it dangerous for some children to attend school and perhaps bring back an infection to the home.
“Learning doesn’t have to be a chore, it can be fun,” he said when he visited Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre last week.
“Many learners have this misconception that mathematics is difficult. I wrote this study guide to break this misconception,” he said adding that seeing young people develop a love of learning and achieving better marks the greatest reward for his hard work.
