Branna shares her clean cut for CANSA

St Mary’s DSG, Kloof’s primary school SPAR Star of the Month - March 2021.

ST Mary’s DSG, Kloof’s primary school SPAR Star of the Month is Branna Green.

The Grade 3 learner honours the school’s motto ‘Service Before Self’ as she made the decision to cut her hair for CANSA.

She initially planned to do this last year but had to wait because her hair wasn’t long enough as it needs to be at least 25cm long to donate it. “I also persuaded my granny to cut her hair so that we could both donate a ponytail,” said a proud Branna.

She was very excited that this month they were both able to donate their pony tails to CANSA in support of the Kindest Cut Campaign.

Branna said, “The reason I decided to do this was because I knew that people were suffering out there. My mom’s friend lost her hair when she had cancer and I knew about cancer because my great-granny had it. I can’t do much as a kid but I can do one thing to make a difference. I wanted to do something to help people who have to be so brave.”

The school’s locum marketing and communications administrator, Julia De Waal, thanked her for making somebody’s day and for showing that she cared.
