“Without the support from the community, we would not be able to offer our service and we are continually in search of financial support. Rescuetech provides search and rescue for both animal and human rescue services free of charge to the community,” said Rescuetech KZN chairman, Warren Brauns.

According to Brauns, Rescuetech is a registered public benefit organisation as well as a non-profit organisation, and is reliant on donations, sponsorships and partnerships to keep providing its services to the community.

Brauns said the greatest challenge the organisation faces is having to rely on limited resources while having monthly expenses close to R6 000.

“Rescuetech has monthly commitments for insurance, accountant fees and admin costs as well as financing awareness programmes in remote areas. In addition to this, there is ongoing equipment replacement, personal protective equipment and uniforms that are required,” he added.

Rescuetech said the aim is to grow in volunteers and establish each of its different divisions to better serve the community by providing a broad spectrum of specialised emergency services.
